Green Your Routine: I Sea Blue Organics

Green Your Routine: I Sea Blue Organics

February 20, 2017

As you may know from my previous posts, I am on an endless quest for the best natural and organic health and beauty products out there. I have most of my daily routine items on lock, but there's been a few things missing. I came across I Sea Blue Organics (formerly Surfer Girl Organics) while skimming Instagram, and thought I'd give them a try. Plus I wanted to show some love and support for the mom and daughter duo that are behind this wonderful new company. They make all their own products ranging from body butters to toothpaste, using all organic and natural ingredients. And they come in cute little jars and other non- plastic containers. Perfect!

Don't let the homemade part fool you... their stuff is gooooood. I find that nowadays, 'homemade' is often way more effective than store bought. It is way more rich with active ingredients and made fresh, so it doesn't contain fillers or preservatives that are required for drugstore items. It's like canned veggies vs straight out of the garden veggies. Your fresh home grown veggies contain WAY more beneficial vitamins and micro-nutrients than something that has been over processed and packaged to last through a decade on a shelf.

The starter kits come in the cutest packaging, a little burlap sack! Adorable! Mine included the Shea Body Butter, the Seaberry bodymist, Lip Balm, Toothpaste, Yogini Pit Paste, and Lavender Lotion. Below is a quick review of each of these items--but FIRST. I have to rant about my most favorite item... their natural deodorant! It's AMAZING!!!! Seriously, I never thought I'd get excited over a deodorant. I have been searching and searching for a natural deodorant that works, and to no avail. And I really don't sweat very much, even when working out. I have tried all the different forms of the crystal deodorant, which sort of works, but I always end up going back to my Dove stick due to insecurity about the effectiveness of the crystal. It's really funny, because I tried the pit paste LAST. I was honestly very apprehensive about it. It sat under my bathroom sink for a few weeks before I got the nerve to try it. After trying so many name brand natural alternatives I was very doubtful that a homemade deodorant with only 4 ingredients would perform any better. I WAS WRONG. Holy cow. This stuff is the bomb! I haven't used anything else since my first try.

First of all the texture is soooo nice. Dry and soft to the touch, but washes off with ease in the shower. Mine came in the lemon scent, which smells like fresh meyer lemon frosting. So yummy and fresh! And not too smelly either, so it won't overpower or mix with your perfume or anything. I put it on after my shower, and it lasted all through my day, and even overnight. This is embarrassing but I even had my guy smell my underarm at the end of the day, because I thought maybe I just couldn't smell my own stink or something. But no, even he said it smelled like nothing. That could have gone a different direction, glad the pit paste worked hahaha. But seriously, go buy this stuff now, and throw out all your other deodorants. You won't need them ever again. And read on for a brief review of all the other items in my goody bag!

*QUICK DISCLAIMER* Please always test a small amount of product on your inner arm before using something new on your body, especially if you tend to be sensitive. Even all natural ingredients can cause irritation if you are allergic!

Yogini Pit Paste in Lemon Shark: No cons.. no white residue, no oily feel, no stains, no smell, no uncomfortable sweat. And the name! Lemon Shark.... appealing to my love for sharks. I'm obviously obsessed.

Shea Body Butter: This body butter is made with coconut oil, so it definitely is heavier and more oily than a regular body lotion, but it's perfect for when you are really dried out from salt water or extra sun. I would use it before bed on your extra dry areas so it can soak in all night. I got the lavender, smells lovely!
Cocoa Mint Lip Balm: Love the texture. A good lip balm needs to be oily enough that it isn't waxy and drying-- but also not so oily that it wears off in a matter of minutes or makes your hair stick to your mouth like lip gloss. This lip balm is that perfect balance. It also smells/tastes great, and comes in a little tin so there's no plastic waste once you use it up.
Peppermint Toothpaste: Another item I was surprised I liked. The peppermint oil is strong enough to really freshen your breath, unlike other natural toothpastes. The non-foaming texture due to the coconut oil was different but still made my mouth feel really clean after, if not more so. If you have tried oil pulling I'd imagine it has similar effects. I have a special toothpaste I have to use due to my weak enamel, but I'd otherwise be happy to swap it out for this toothpaste.
Some items I'm excited to try next-- the coffee scrub, the mermaid mud, and sunscreen! They are constantly putting out new products so keep an eye on these two, I expect big things to come.
